Standard Chartered Bank opened a Representative Office in Buenos Aires in July 1996 following the improved business environment in Latin America. We act in the capacity of a Representative Office, and as such are unable to take deposits locally or conduct local commercial banking business.

Standard Chartered in Argentina provides cross-border service to major local and multinational corporations and institutions with an emphasis on supporting our clients' needs throughout Standard Chartered's global network. We offer a variety of international banking products not only to our clients in Argentina, but also to our customers in Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. In addition, the Representative Office operates a Trade Services Unit that delivers our services to local exporters.
