In 2009, Standard Chartered added a Corporate Finance capability in the Americas, focusing primarily on cross-border financing.

Standard Chartered opened its Representative Office in Buenos Aires in July 1996. The Representative Office is not authorized to perform financial intermediation activities nor qualified to raise funds from the public.
In Argentina, the Bank is focused on the Wholesale Bank business and offers an extension of the full product suite of Standard Chartered Bank's network.
The Wholesale Bank strategy in Argentina is focused on Financial Institutions, Multinational and selected Latin American Corporates with links to the Standard Chartered global network.
