What you’ll need to know to get your very own eCash card

Who is eligible?

Our eCash card requires no bank account and anyone aged 12 and above can purchase the card with a valid identity document. For those aged below 15, the card will be registered in the cardholder’s parents or guardian’s name.

Where can I purchase an eCash card?

You can purchase your eCash card at your nearest Standard Chartered branch anywhere in Brunei.

Can I purchase more than one eCash card under the same name?

Yes, you can.

Can I purchase an eCash Card for someone else?

You may purchase an eCash card for anyone you wish, as long as they are 12 years old and above. If you are purchasing for someone aged below 15 years, the card will be registered in your name. To register, please bring along both the recipient's and your identity documents.

Can I personlise my eCash card?

Yes, you can request to have your name printed on the card at a minimal fee. What’s more, you can also have your choice of a Liverpool FC design or a trendy card design.

Where can I use my Standard Chartered eCash card?

Your card is recognised and accepted almost everywhere worldwide. Plus, cash withdrawals can be made at ATMs worldwide that display the MasterCard/Cirrus logo.

Where can I check my card balance?

You can either sign up for our eStatement or you can check your credit balance at any time through any ATMs with MasterCard/Cirrus worldwide or SMS. You can also check your balance through Online Banking if you do not hold any credit card issued by the Bank.

Can I set a standing instruction / direct debit for bill payments with my eCash card?

Standing instruction is not available for eCash card.

How your eCash card works?

When can I start using my card?

You can start using your card after top-up. All top-ups during banking hours will be processed within 3 working days.

Where can I top-up my eCash card?

There are several easy ways for you to top-up your eCash card. You can do it from any Standard Chartered Bank ATM or Cash Deposit Machine in Brunei. Alternatively, you may also top-up over the counter at any of our branches at a minimal fee.

Will I still be able to top-up when I’m overseas?

Yes, you can appoint a representative in Brunei to top-up on your behalf; or have it done through Online Banking if you have a Savings or Current account with us.

How much can I top-up?

You may top up any amount you want as long as the total balance does not exceed the maximum card value of BND12,000. Your monthly top-up frequency can be as high as 30 times.

Will there be any charge for ATM cash withdrawal?

There is no charge to withdraw from any Standard Chartered ATM located in Brunei. For cash withdrawal over the branch counter and overseas cash withdrawal, a small service fee will apply.

If I make a purchase or withdraw cash from an ATM overseas, will my credit balance be deducted in Brunei dollars or according to the country’s currency?

The amount will be converted into Brunei Dollars at the prevailing exchange rate including any fees applicable by MasterCard International.

For lost, damaged or expired eCash card

What happens if my Standard Chartered eCash card gets lost or stolen?

You will need to notify us immediately by calling 265 8000 to report a lost card.

Will my eCash card expire?

Your eCash card will expire according to the date printed on your card. Once the card has expired, you may transfer the balance to a new eCash card or collect the remaining balance at your nearest Standard Chartered branch at an applicable fee.

If my Standard Chartered eCash is expired, lost or stolen, can I get a new card without changing my card number?

No, you will be re-issued a new card that comes with a new number at an applicable issuing fee.
