Standard Chartered Bank originally established a Representative Office in Colombia in 1995, which coordinated all local activities through our Miami branch until 1997. In January 1998, Standard Chartered concluded the purchase of a controlling interest in Banco Exterior de Los Andes y de Espana S.A. (Extebandes), an Andean Region bank involved primarily in trade finance. The bank changed its name to Banco Standard Chartered, and with this purchase, now offers a full range of commercial bank services in Colombia.
Banco Standard Chartered is a medium-sized bank within Colombia,
specialising in Corporate Banking and Treasury, with an emphasis
on Trade Finance. Banco Standard Chartered has one branch
in the country in Bogota. Standard Chartered continues to
offer correspondent banking and trade finance services to
Financial Institutions, through its Representative Office.
