Shayne Nelson
CEO Private Bank & Global Head High Value Client Coverage

Shayne Nelson was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Global Head of Standard Chartered Private Bank in July 2010. Based in Singapore, he is responsible for setting, and delivering, the strategic direction of the Private Bank, an important and growing market segment for Standard Chartered.
Additionally Shayne is Chairman of the Islamic Banking Board of Standard Chartered Saadiq, Chairman of the publicly listed Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan and a Director of Scope International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Standard Chartered providing global shared services in Malaysia and India.
Prior to his role in the Private Bank, Shayne was Regional Chief Executive Officer for the Middle East and North Africa region and Chief Executive Officer for Standard Chartered UAE, during which time the business in the UAE grew to generating revenues in excess of USD1bn. Additionally Shayne was Chairman of the Banking Advisory Council to the board of the Board of the Dubai International Financial Centre.
Shayne joined Standard Chartered in 1997 as Regional Head of Audit, Corporate & Institutional Banking covering Asia Pacific and India. He was then appointed the Regional Head of Credit for North East Asia before being appointed Chief Risk Officer for Wholesale Banking, a global position covering the Standard Chartered network.
Shayne then moved to become Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director for Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad, a wholly owned subsidiary of Standard Chartered PLC. In addition to his role as Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Malaysia, Shayne sat on the board of directors of Cagamas Berhad (the national mortgage corporation); the Malaysian Institute of Banks (IBBM), the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and was a council member of the Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM).
Before joining Standard Chartered, Shayne has held numerous challenging positions in two of Australia’s major banks, Westpac Banking Corporation and the National Australia Bank, including periods in corporate finance, debt restructuring and senior positions in retail and wholesale banking.
Shayne is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors as well as an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Managers.
In his leisure, Shayne enjoys fishing and golf.
