I started with Standard Chartered as an MBA Summer Associate in the Project Finance group in 2009, and subsequently joined as a Management Associate (MA) with the Project Finance, Africa team in 2010. 

In my experience, the Standard Chartered Bank MA programme offered the opportunity to immediately slot into a specific role and team from as early as the summer internship, which is an arrangement well-suited to MBA students with more years of work experience prior to the MBA.  During our MA induction and training programme in Singapore, which brought together 40 new MBA recruits across Corporate Finance and the Wholesale Bank globally, it was evident that the Bank places significant emphasis on recruiting those with strong emerging markets experience and background.  Further, I also felt the commitment of the Bank to investing in its new resources through providing exposure and opportunities to engage with key management and strategy setters across the organisation.

In my initial year as an MA with Standard Chartered, I have been involved with transactions and clients in countries across Sub-Saharan Africa such as Nigeria, Ghana, and Uganda, focusing on the energy, power, and infrastructure sectors.  Several of my primary responsibilities include  financial modeling, presenting analysis on financials, debt capacity, structuring, and risk mitigation to clients, and preparing submissions to deal and credit committees.  In addition, I have also been able to work on strategic initiatives for the broader Project & Export Finance group, building off of work initially done during my summer internship.

I have found that by working at Standard Chartered, there are constantly new opportunities for becoming involved in market-leading transactions and initiatives in the world's most dynamic markets.
