Standard Chartered’s Schools Desk Project reaches Korpehem D/A Primary School
25th school to benefit from Standard Chartered’s school desks project under the Future Leaders Programme in support of Ghana@50
Accra, January 15 2009 - Standard Chartered has made a presentation of a hundred dual desks to Korpehem D/A Primary School, Ada in the Greater Accra Region under its Schools Desk Project which forms part of the “Standard Chartered – Ghana@50 Future Leaders Programme”.
The “Standard Chartered - Ghana@50 Future Leaders Programme which covers the areas of Health and Education is focused on the development of future leaders to ensure that the country accomplishes its various developmental milestones which will be showcased at Ghana@100.
Under the Schools Desk Project, Standard Chartered is distributing 5000 dual desks 50 (signifying Ghana@50) deprived schools across the length and breadth of Ghana. Each beneficiary institution will receive 100 desks. This translates into seats for 200 pupils or students in each of the 50 schools.
Making the presentation, Nii Okai Nunoo, Area Head of Corporate Affairs, West Africa of the Bank said:

The desks were received on behalf of the school by Mr. Isaac Tachie, the Headteacher, in the presence of his staff and school kids and the Assemblyman for the area, Mr. Joshua Tetteh.
In the area of health, Standard Chartered, under its Nets-for-Life initiative, is distributing 49,500 Long-Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets (LLITNs) to prevent Malaria and support an awareness creation campaign against the disease and its agents.
Standard Chartered Bank has over the years won praise and acclaim for its community initiatives. This has been through its core and ongoing initiatives in the areas of curable sight restoration, HIV/AIDS and the award winning 100 Wells for 100 Communities Project through which the Bank provided a total of 100 bore-holes to an equal number of communities across the country between 2004 and 2006.
