Staff of Standard Chartered partner the Ghanaian Times to give Kwame Tettey a new lease of life.
Accra, June 21, 2008 – Staff of Standard Chartered Bank yesterday brought smiles back on the face of little Kwame Tettey when they responsively raised an amount of GHS2,533.00 to enable him undergo surgery at Korle Bu to correct a malformation of the cranium and brain known as ‘front nasal encephalocoele’.
The staff had read about the plight of Little Kwame in the Ghanaian Times of Thursday June 19 2008, and heeding a clarion call from Francis Mills-Robertson, an Executive Director of the Bank, they quickly pooled resources to bring new hope to Kwame.
The engaged staff were so touched by the article, they went the extra mile to raise funds way beyond the needed GH¢1,700.00.
Commenting, Francis Mills-Robertson, said: “Standard Chartered Bank has over the years gained a reputation for staff-driven sustainability initiatives which involves fundraising, volunteering and awareness creation. The Bank has in place an Employee Volunteering programme which allows all employees 2 days a year in addition to their annual leave to volunteer to benefit the community. This has been enthusiastically embraced by our staff, who continue to engage in several activities to bring benefit to the community.”
Staff of the Bank continue to bring benefit to their communities by contributing financially towards a variety of staff-inspired initiatives.
