Standard Chartered goes DIVA
Introduces another first in the Market
Ghana, November 2008 – Standard Chartered has led the way in introducing its hybrid account – tagged the Diva Club Account as part of activities marking its Wealth Management Month celebrations at a high profile event held at the Fiesta Royale Hotel in Accra.
The launch, which underscored the Bank’s commitment to focus on meeting the specialised needs of women, brought together divas from all walks of life, the media, management and staff of the Bank.
Launching the product, Francis C. Mills-Robertson, Standard Chartered’s Executive Director for Consumer Banking noted that in the last 20 years, there has been a seismic shift in the profile of the Ghanaian population, stating that there is presently a large number of educated, economically empowered and assertive women within the 25 – 55 year band, many who have shattered the glass ceiling of gender bias in the society and achieved stratospheric success in their lives.
These “Sisters”, he continued, have carved an identity for themselves, and therefore demanded specialized products to meet their needs.
“Standard Chartered claims as a guiding principle a deep seated commitment to be the Right Partner to the Ghanaian Public. We aim to do this by ensuring that all that we do is reflected through the prism of the values that we hold dear: Courageous, Responsive, International, Creative and Trustworthiness. True to our claim of responsiveness and creativity, today we offer to our “Sisters” a specialized product, tagged the Diva Club account, to meet their specialized needs. The basic sense of the term Diva is “Goddess” and it derives from the Latin word ‘divus’ meaning divine. The New SCB Diva Club Account is the Account for Ghanaian Divas.” He said.
The Diva Club Account is a hybrid account that offers all divas, an array of tailored financial, transactional and lifestyle benefits. The many benefits of the product include negotiated rates on transactions, no commission on turnover, free 1st Cheque book and leather wallet, attractive interest rates, customised visa debit card, a dedicated Personal Financial Consultant and fast track service in all SCB branches among others. The divas will enjoy greater transactional convenience which includes Internet Banking, mobile banking, e-statements and e-alert services.
All divas who sign on to the product will also enjoy lifestyle benefits from numerous partners who will offer them exclusive discounts from Shops, Hotels, Salons, Health Spas, Boutiques, Hospitals and Clinics, etc. Additionally, anyone who opens a DIVA club account from now till next year stands the chance of winning 2 brand new cars (VW Suran and VW Touareg), Plasma TVs and many exciting prizes.
The launch of Diva is the latest in a list of ‘alternative banking channels’ introduced by Standard Chartered Bank in Africa in 2008. ‘Alternative banking channels’ are innovative products and services such as ATMs, Internet Banking and e-statements, which provide customers with greater flexibility in their banking requirements, enabling them to sort their finances at their own convenience, in their own time, in the knowledge their finances are completely secure.
