Foreign Accounts
These accounts are offered in US dollar, Pound sterling or Euro with an option of Savings or current accounts.
Initial deposit to open is USD200, GBP200 or EUR200. Cheque books are issued on the current accounts and savings withdrawal books given for Savings accounts.
The 2 main types of foreign accounts are
- Foreign Currency Account is an account in US Dollar, Pound Sterling or Euro where funding of the account is mobilized exclusively from sources outside the country (i.e. transfers and offshore cheques).
FCA accounts are not subject to Bank of Ghana Exchange Control restrictions - Foreign Exchange Account is an account in US Dollar, Pound Sterling or Euro where funding of the account is mobilised principally from sources within the country (i.e. cash, locally drawn cheques).
