Kenya - A Land of Contrast and Magic
Very few countries capture both the magic and the contrast of the African continent like Kenya does. Situated in the eastern part of the continent, Kenya is a land of mesmerising natural beauty and colour. It is a land in which a snow-capped mountain sits on the Equator and lions roam in their natural splendour only a few kilometres away from the heart of the capital city, Nairobi. Kenya is also home to some of the earliest pre-historic sites on earth.

Because of its modern amenities and uniquely western style and pace of life, many foreigners visiting Kenya, and especially Nairobi, consider the country as their home away from home.

Most of all the international aid or relief agencies working in Eastern Africa operate from Nairobi. Kenya is headquarters to the two United Nations agencies based outside of America and Europe - the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and Habitat, both of which are based in Nairobi. In addition, Nairobi is home to all the world's news agencies, from where they cover East and Central Africa. But Kenya is not just known for its wildlife and beaches, it is also a land of world beating sportsmen, especially in the long distance races. Indeed, no single country has won more honours and medals in long distance running in modern times than Kenya.

The recent introduction of the Nairobi International Marathon by Standard Chartered Bank presents an opportunity to fuse Kenya's natural magnetism with its athletic prowess. The marathon is already producing an explosive combination of community spirit and personal achievement.

At Standard Chartered Kenya, we feel extremely delighted to be an integral part of this society. With 28 branches and 58 ATM's and more than 1000 employees, all linked through modern communication, we aim to continue making a difference both in business and in the community.

I hope that as you read the Kenya website, you will develop a compelling urge to visit Kenya. And if you do, you can be sure of an experience you will treasure for ever. You can also be assured of the best service at any outlet of Standard Chartered Bank Kenya.

Warm regards,

Mr Michael Hart - General Manager EA & CEO Kenya
