Standard Chartered commenced operations
in Gambia in 1894. At one time, it performed many of the functions
of the central bank and is the oldest bank operating in the
country. We are headquartered in Banjul, with three branches
and two agencies. Standard Chartered enjoys a 55% market share,
of which more than 80% constitutes the middle and upper market
segments. Concentrating on consumer banking, corporate and
institutional banking and treasury services, we are a local
market leader in treasury and trade finance, with a core customer
base among the corporate and development institutions. The
currency of Gambia is the Dalasi (SWIFT Code GMD), and the
units are known as Bututs.
