What is the difference
between a debit card and a credit card?
The basic difference between
a debit card and a credit card is that the debit card gives
you access to your own money whereas the credit card is a form
of loan and it accesses a line of credit offered by your bank.
Put in simple terms, a debit card is a Buy Now Pay Now option
while a credit card is a Buy Now Pay Later option.
Therefore in a debit card there
is no monthly repayment and there is also no interest charged.
Is there any transaction
charge that will be levied each time I use my Debit Card?
You have free aXcess to all
Standard Chartered Bank and are entitled to free cash withdrawals
at Visa ATMs (up to four free cash withdrawals per account per
month).
There are no transaction charges for the purchases made at the
Merchant establishments except at railway stations and petrol
pumps (as per industry practice).
What will be the mode
of payment in case of a Debit Card?
There will be no monthly
outstanding in case of a Debit Card. Your account will be
instantly debited to the extent of purchases made and amount
withdrawn from the ATMs on the debit card.
What is the procedure
to be followed in case of loss of the Debit Card?
It is important that you report
the card loss immediately by calling the
Phone Banking
staff within 24 hours. You are also advised to send
a letter to the bank at the address / fax no. advised to you
by the Phone Banking executives.
What are the charges
I have to pay for replacement of the lost card?
There are no charges in
case of damage or theft of the card. In case the loss of card
is due to any other reasons there will be a nominal charge
of Rs. 200.
Any adult having a banking
relationship with Standard Chartered Bank can become a Debit
Cardholder.
* Free cash withdrawals
include up to four free cash withdrawal transactions per account
per month at other banks' ATMs in India through the Visa ATM
