CHANGING YOUR ADDRESS
Important information for clients
holding assets with U.S. source income.
It is important that you let us know as soon as you are
planning to move.
If we hold any assets on your behalf with U.S. source income
and you change your address, you will need to complete a
new Form W8 (non U.S. resident) or Form W9 (U.S. resident)
in order to maintain compliance with the current U.S. legislation.
If this compliance is not maintained, your account will
become 'undocumented' and you will be subject to maximum
withholding tax on all income from U.S. source income assets.
This may mean that more tax is deducted than is actually
required.
Furthermore, if you are a U.S. national and you sell U.S.
based assets whilst the account is "undocumented",
our U.S. agent is required to deduct withholding tax from
the sale proceeds as well.
We would like to avoid this happening, particularly when
correspondence may not reach you for some considerable time.
Please let us know
- as soon as you are planning to move - particularly if
you will be moving to another country, and
- your new address - as soon as you know it
Once you have informed us about your proposed change of
address, we'll send the relevant new form to you. Alternatively,
you can complete it yourself by downloading the relevant
form from the links opposite. Please print out, complete
and sign the form, and return it to your Client Relationship
Manager.
