All you have to do is nominate a Sri Lankan Rupee Account (LKR) to transfer the funds in to, and the bonus will be credited to the nominated account.
Can I open a new NRFC/ RFC Account and enjoy this benefit?
Yes you can. All you have to do is open an NRFC or RFC Savings or Fixed Deposit Account with Standard Chartered Bank and nominate a Sri Lankan Rupee Account to transfer the Bonus Interest in to the nominated Account.
Features of Bonus Interest on NRFC/ RFC Accounts
- This offer is applicable for all existing and new NRFC or RFC Savings and Fixed Deposit account holders.
- Interest earned on NRFC/ RFC Accounts from 1st February 2009 will enjoy a 20% Bonus Interest.
- The Bonus Interest will be paid in Sri Lankan Rupee Currency (LKR) to a nominated Rupee Account.
- The Bonus Interest is exempted from Income Tax
How do I open a new NRFC/ RFC Account?
- To open a NRFC/RFC Savings Account, you would require a minimum of USD 500 or equivalent in designated currency or a Fixed Deposit with USD 1,000 or equivalent.
- A completed account opening mandate is also required.
- A copy of your passport is necessary
