Dear customer,
We at Standard Chartered Bank value the integrity of our applications. As
such we are proud to announce the addition of a new security feature to your
Internet Banking experience in the near future.
Going forward you will be requested to enter a code to verify certain
requests, such as requests to add third party beneficiaries.

You will be prompted on the Internet Banking page to generate an Electronic Transaction Authorization Code (or eTAC).

Upon clicking this, an SMS will be forwarded to your registered mobile phone.

You then simply enter this code to verify the authenticity of the request.
To ensure delivery of the SMS it is important that your mobile number is
updated in the following format:
<CountryCode><Mobile number excluding the initial zero digit>
Example: 94771234567

We are pleased to inform you that as a directive from the Central Bank, all senior citizens of Sri Lanka will receive a 20% bonus interest on the interest earned on their rupee deposit and savings account with effect from 1st January 2010.
Introduction
This scheme is introduced by the Bank Supervision Department of the Central
Bank of Sri Lanka (BSD/CBSL) in an effort to assist the senior citizens who
are dependant on their interest income for their day to day living. Under
this scheme, a further 20% Bonus Interest will be paid by the Central Bank
of Sri Lanka, on the interest accrued on rupee savings and fixed deposits,
of a resident Sri Lankan senior citizen, subject to the following
conditions.
Eligibility
-
All Sri Lankan citizens who are resident in Sri Lanka including dual citizenship holders.

Hold Rupee Savings or Fixed Deposits in the bank
-
Are 60 years and above of age
Qualified
Account Categories
The bonus interest will be paid on the interest accrued on the following
categories of rupee savings and fixed deposit accounts of senior citizens.

Existing or new individual and joint deposit accounts of senior citizens
-
Existing or new joint deposit account/s of a senior citizen with the spouse
-
Joint deposit accounts of senior citizens with individual/s of below 60 years of age (other than spouse) that have been in operation before 01 January 2010.
Non Eligibility
-
Those accounts that belong to non-resident Sri Lankans
-
Rupee deposits in the form of Certificates of deposits and savings certificates will also not qualify for this purpose

Joint deposit accounts of senior citizens with individual/s of below 60 years of age other than spouse, which are opened after the 01 January 2010
Maximum
Payment
Maximum bonus interest payment per senior citizen under this scheme is
limited to Rs. 120,000 per annum.

The account holder is responsible to inform the bank if the per annum benefit exceeds the given amount;
-
Mis-users will be disqualified and removed from the scheme by the BSD/CBSL. Such customers are required to repay, such Bonus interest credited to the account, up to the date of disqualification.

The bank branch will need to obtain a declaration in the draft embedded hereto, from existing and new account holders of their understanding of the aforesaid conditions.
