Lord TurnerLord Turner joined the Board of Standard Chartered PLC as a Non-Executive Director on 1 August 2006.
He is a Non-Executive Director of United Business Media plc, Siemens Holding plc and Paternoster UK Limited. He is also Chairman of the Overseas Development Institute, the Climate Change Committee and of the Economic and Social Research Council and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Save the Children UK.
Adair Lord Turner of Ecchinswell has combined careers in business, public policy and academia.
He became a cross-bench member of the House of Lords in 2005. He was Chairman of the Pensions Commission from 2003 to 2006, and of the Low Pay Commission from 2002-2006. Previously he was Director General of the CBI and Vice Chairman of Merrill Lynch Europe Limited. He is the author of 'Just Capital - The Liberal Economy', published by Macmillan in 2001.
Lord Turner will step down as Non-Executive Director of Standard Chartered PLC with effect from 19 September 2008, following his appointment as the next Chairman of the UK Financial Services Authority.
