Mexico
Our presence in Mexico dates back to 1968 when we opened our Mexico City Representative Office. This Representative Office provides advice and assistance to our Corporate and Institutional Banking customers operating in the market, especially in the area of Trade Finance. We also encourage local banks in Mexico to open correspondent accounts with SCB branches in those countries in which we operate.
The office plays an important marketing role in Mexico and it is focused on providing cross border services to major financial institutions and major corporations as part of the Group's Latin America network. In 1997, Standard Chartered established a Trade Service Unit (TSU) in Mexico City. These units assist SBC's overseas offices in negotiation of letters of credit for Mexican beneficiaries and applicants.
Products provided: Trade Finance, US Dollars Clearing, Cash Management, Commodities Finance, Structure Trade Finance, Export Credit, Treasury and Syndication.
