Ikeja branch opening
Amidst lots of color and pump, our Ikeja
branch was formally opened on Thursday March 11, 2004, by
GED, Christopher A. Keljik and the Governor of the Central
Bank of Nigeria, Dr Joseph Sanusi. Steve Seagrove and Bill
Moore - a former Director of SCB Nigeria Limited, accompanied
Chris.
It was a well-attended ceremony with customers cutting
across Consumer Banking and Client Relationship in attendance
- these customers made out time in the thick of their regular
business routine to share our joy and celebrate with us.
In attendance also were staff from the Head Office, led
by Simon, who turned out to give support to the Ikeja branch
staff.
Clad in traditional attires, the Branch staff, led by their
Manager, Yetunde Obrimah, gave a classic rendition of our
National Anthem.
Ikeja branch is a state of the art branch, fully loaded
with modern facilities very comparable with other SCB branches
across the group; it is a real cause for worry for our competitors.
The branch began operations in January 2004.

Africa first workshop
About 95% of permanent staff in Nigeria
have now participated in the Africa First workshops. In
February, we had Tim Mwai and Ann Meja come to Nigeria to
assist out HR team in organizing the workshop for 2 streams
of select top and middle managers.
In March two more streams for all other members of staff
were organized by Head, HR assisted the Africa First champions.
It was well organized and helped to drive home the way
forward for SCB Africa. Staff were very interested and participated
effectively in team activities and fun games.
