Under the initiative of the Bank’s Global Technology & Operations (GTO) Team, about 100 staff from the Bank participated in the ‘Green Your Flight’ campaign conducted on 14 August 2010. Bank staff, members of Bishankhunarayan Community Forest Consumer Committee and officials of the District Forest office volunteered to plant about 5,000 (five thousand) trees at Bhoot Dhunga, section 2 of Bishankhunarayan, VDC- Ward no. 2, Lalitpur covering an area of abut 3.5 hectares of land.
Standard Chartered Bank’s GTO wing intends to plant 50,000 trees globally by the end of 2010 under the initiative `Green Your Flight’. About 26,000 trees have already been planted this year.
Employee Volunteering program is an internal initiative of the Bank whereby the staff is encouraged to participate in community activities. As per the program, the staff is entitled for three days leave in addition to their annual leave to volunteer in the community related activities.
Bank’s effort to undertake this environmental initiative in the VDC was deeply appreciated by the local community and the officials of District Forest Office. Another good way of showing our communities that the Bank is Here for good!
