Standard Chartered Bank's annual Champion of Champions Sailing Race
Sailing race brings together the best of Regatta's Sailors
Qatar 20 June, 2011 -The second Annual Standard Chartered Bank Champion of Champions Sailing race took place at the Regatta Sailing Academy on Friday, 17th of June 2011, run by the Academy's Race Coach Simon Kearns. It was a great spectacle from the Corniche, and also at The Pearl viewed by a great many onlookers from Academy's base at the Intercontinental Hotel and those enjoying the summer weather from the water.
Haya Mashhood, Head Corporate Affairs Standard Chartered Bank, Qatar presented the trophies ceremony held at the Intercontinental Hotel Al Wajba Ballroom . Haya commented, "We are delighted to support the Regatta Sailing Academy on its second annual Standard Chartered Champion of Champions Race in 2011. It was lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves and a great finale to the sailing season."
Mike Lawton, General Manager, Regatta Sailing Academy was also present during the awarding ceremony and thanked Standard Chartered Bank for their continued support.
Race Coach Simon Kearns said "This year's sailing race was a great success; there were 53 participants which was a record. Family members of the sailors had fun watching the participants who have practiced for months Sailors of all standards found the good breezy conditions challenging with top places changing as the front runners fought hard to try and win the prestigious prizes."

1st Place – Champion of Champions: Freddie Witzmann
