60th anniversary celebrations for Standard Chartered Bank's NRI customers features Sonu Nigam at exclusive event
23 March 2010, Qatar -As part of Standard Chartered Bank's 60th anniversary celebrations in Qatar, 400 of the Bank's Premier Non Resident Indian customers attended an exclusive show held recently at the Diplomatic Club by India's legendary singer Sonu Nigam.
The show entitled "A moment in time" also featured famous singing star, Gunchan with a special appearance by former Miss India and Indian film actor, Tanushree Dutta. The show was hosted by popular UAE Radio Jockey, Gaurav Tandon, who also anchors shows for Sony Entertainment Television.
The three hour performance saw customers enjoy their favourite numbers and several guests joined the singer on stage throughout the evening.
Sonu Nigam later commented "It was an honour to be part of Standard Chartered's 6o year celebrations in Doha, what a fabulous audience and great host! I look forward to working with them again soon".
One of the many highlights of the evening included special recognition of Standard Chartered Qatar's oldest banking NRI customer Mr. Bipin Joshi, who was felicitated on stage by the Head of Consumer Banking, Northern Gulf Levant and Oman, Mr. B Chandrasekar and Qatar's Head of the Consumer Bank, Mr. Dermot Fitzgerald.
Mr. Harish Kanjani, one of the Bank's customers who was present at the function mentioned, "The show was wonderful and we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Standard Chartered Bank has certainly shown us how much they value their customers."

Biography – V. Shankar
Before joining Standard Chartered Bank in September 2001, Shankar was with Bank of America in Asia and USA for 19 years and his last position was as Managing Director - Head of Asia-Pacific Investment Banking and Chief Executive Officer of BA Asia Limited based in Hong Kong.
Shankar completed his Masters in Business Administration at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and a Bachelors degree majoring in Physics at the Loyola College, Madras. He was on the local advisory board of the Asia Society's Southern California Chapter; and a member of the task force constituted in 1995 by the Treasurer of the State of California to solidify the State's position as a financial center for the Pacific Rim.
In addition to his responsibilities at Standard Chartered, Shankar serves as a member of the Board of the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of SINDA, the National Integration Council, and the Economic Strategies Committee constituted by the Government of Singapore.
Shankar is married with one son and his interests include golf, cricket, tennis and modern art.
