Community Investment

People in Action

We recognise that great ideas are often seeded at a local level. Both Seeing is Believing and Living with HIV education started out as local projects.

Some examples of funding for local community projects are:

  • Donating USD150,000 to the Bangladesh Relief fund following severe flooding.
  • In partnership with Scope and CARE, the Bank committed USD115,000 to establish the Livelihood Advancement Centre in India, helping people in areas affected by the Asian Tsunami to develop alternative livelihoods in fishing, agriculture and other activities.
