World Economic Forum

World Economic ForumStandard Chartered proudly supports the Global Health Initiative's campaign against HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

Standard Chartered has joined The World Economic Forum's Global Health Initiative (GHI) as part of our commitment to helping to improve the quality of life of our staff, our customers and the communities in which we operate.

The GHI backs our belief that by working together we can make a difference. It has been set up to increase private sector involvement in the global battle against HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria.

These diseases - in particular HIV - are prevalent across most of the 50 plus countries in which we operate and are having an increasingly devastating personal and economic effect. We have already started the fight against them with our award-winning "Staying Alive" programme in Africa, and are now embarking on our "Living with HIV" programme. Working with the GHI, we hope to be able to help more people.

The World Economic Forum's member companies formed the GHI in partnership with the World Health Organisation and the Joint United Nation Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). A broad range of both government and non-governmental organisations have also joined. We signed the Executive Statement (PDF, 1.0MB) in early 2002 and will play an active role in the partnership over the coming years.
