Standard Chartered Bank Launches e-Statement
14 July 2008, Kampala – Standard Chartered has once again proved to be the Right Partner, leading by example by launching ‘e-statement’. This is in line with the Bank’s pursuit to offer the most innovative products and services to its customers. The package was unveiled during a press conference at the Bank’s head office in Kampala.
Speaking at the occasion, Herman Kasekende, the Head of Consumer Banking said the Bank will continue to set standards of excellence for high quality products and services across all areas of operation. E- statement is a statement delivered by e-mail, rather than post, which shows the transactions on a customer’s account over a given period of time.
Mr Kasekende said, “Standard Chartered is today delivering on its promise to offer top quality service and innovative products. You will now be able to view your statement from the comfort of your living room, office or holiday resort – wherever you can access e-mail. Our customers will be able to access their statement immediately it is sent, rather than make a visit to the post or the branch to collect it, which will make it easier for customers to keep abreast of their account activity.”
The other benefits that customers will enjoy include greater levels of confidentiality since customers can choose to limit the access to their documents or computer. Customer convenience will be further enhanced considering that these statements can now be easily filed and retrieved on the computer. The statement can also be delivered to more than one email address, depending on the customer’s needs and instructions.
The e-statement is yet another manifestation of Standard Chartered putting our customer first. Other banking services designed for customer convenience include a state of the art Call Centre offering free phone banking services, handling of enquiries and processing orders for cheque books among others. In addition, to provide more flexibility for our customers, our Garden City and Kikuubo branches open every day up to 7:00 pm. We remain the only bank in Uganda which provides 7 day banking.
Standard Chartered Bank has a long history and deep commitment to the development of business in Uganda. This commitment as well as the passion and knowledge that our teams bring to clients in addressing and improving their evolving needs have generated many industry firsts. It is our promise that this innovation will continue.
