Standard Chartered has a history of over 150 years in the UK. Its headquarters are based at 1 Basinghall Avenue, London, and both the CEO and Chairman situated here.
Standard Chartered is regulated by the UK FSA and is one of the UK’s largest banks. It has been listed on the London Stock Exchange since 1969 and is currently a top 20 FTSE company and among the top five largest banks by market capitalisation.
In additional to the many Group functions based in the UK, London is a global financial centre and a key hub for Standard Chartered’s Wholesale Banking business. It also hosts significant Private Banking and International Banking operations.
In September 2009, the Bank signed a four year sponsorship with Liverpool Football Club starting from the 2010/11 season.
Standard Chartered Europe
The scale and breadth of Standard Chartered’s European business has grown significantly since 2007 through the acquisition of Pembroke, Harrison Lovegrove and American Express Bank. Standard Chartered now has presence in 14 European markets and employees over 2,500 staff.
London is the main centre in Europe for Wholesale Bank Origination and Client Coverage, and a centre of expertise for the major wholesale Bank product groups: Financial markets, Transaction Banking and Corporate Finance. Frankfurt is our next largest operation, which is home to our Euro clearing and a global Transaction Banking product support group.
The European Consumer Banking business is dominated by the Private Bank, with booking centres in London, Jersey and Geneva. Guernsey provides trust and fiduciary services.
Retail services are available in the Falkland Islands as well as in Germany.
