Airton Villafranca joined Standard Chartered in March 2009 as the CEO Brazil and also Head of Origination & Client Coverage (OCC) for Brazil.

He is responsible for the marketing, delivery and management of our products and services and, jointly with the Global Markets Heads, delivery of all Financial Market products. He is also responsible for driving our overall strategy to build a successful and sustainable franchise based on the Brazilian corporate sector’s trade and investment ties with the Group’s core footprint of Asia, Africa and the Middle East. He is involved in the identification of client opportunities in Brazil and provide leadership of client deals.

Airton brings with him nearly 27 years of wholesale banking experience in Brazil and the USA. Prior to joining Standard Chartered, he was most recently responsible for the international division at Banco Santander Brasil. Airton has previously also held senior positions at Chase Manhattan and Chemical Bank.

Airton holds a bachelor degree in BA and economics.
