Head, Financial Institutions, Latin America (excluding Brazil)
Julio Malo is the Head of Latin America (excluding Brazil) and the Head of Financial Institutions, Latin America (excluding Brazil) for Standard Chartered Bank. Based in Lima, Julio is responsible for all governance and business matters for our representative offices in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru. As Head of Latin America, he coordinates the overall strategy direction and execution, balancing governance, financial management, franchise development, delivery of revenue objectives, and people & talent management. As Head of Financial Institutions, Latin America (exc. Brazil), Julio is responsible for the strategy and direction our business with financial institutions in the region. Julio is a member of the Americas Management Committee, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of the Americas and the Global Head of Financial Institutions. Previously, Julio served as CEO and Head of Financial Institutions for our Peru franchise since March 2005.
Julio joined Standard Chartered Bank in Lima in July 1998 to manage our business with financial institutions from Ecuador and Bolivia. Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Julio worked at the Finance and International Division of Banco del Pacifico in Ecuador.
Julio holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from University of Hartford and an M. Phil in Economics from Oxford. He is married and a father of two.
