Julio Rojas is the Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Bank in the Americas. Appointed in June 2011, Julio is responsible for all of the Bank’s businesses in the Americas. Based in New York City, he leads the Americas senior management team and reports directly to the Chief Executive Office – Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas.
Julio has been with Standard Chartered Bank for over 23 years. Prior to his current role, Julio was the Acting Global Head, Financial Institutions from August 2010 to May 2011. In this role, he was responsible for all global Financial Institutions relationships, including Banks, Securities companies, Insurance, Funds and Development Organizations (Multilateral Organizations, Bi-lateral Organizations and NGO’s). From 2003 to 2010, Julio was the Regional Head Financial Institutions, Americas. Prior to 2003, Julio held positions as the General Manager of Banco Standard Chartered (majority controlled subsidiary in Latin America) and Regional Head Financial Institutions, Europe based in London. Before joining Standard Chartered Bank, Julio worked at First Interstate Bank – California.
Julio is an executive board member of the Institute of International Bankers (IIB) and a board member of the Hong Kong Association of New York (HKANY). He is also a member of the Advisory Board at the University of Washington -Pacific Rim Bankers Program (PRBP).
Julio graduated with an economics degree from the University of Geneva, Switzerland and he also holds an MBA from University of Miami. He is married with 2 children.
