HOW TO USE YOUR DEBIT CARD?
- After inserting the Debit card in the machine, it will ask for your PIN (personal identification number).
- Once your PIN has been confirmed, you will need to select a transaction (usually deposit, withdrawal, or account balance inquiry), and the type of account you would like to access (primary or others).
- You will then be asked to confirm the transaction. You would first be required to take your card back before the cash dispenses. You get a receipt and your cash, if you make a withdrawal.
- Finally, you will be asked if you would like to make another transaction. When you are finished, don't forget to take your card! The machine will "beep" to remind you.
- If you are making a withdrawal, keep in mind that ATMs usually distribute only 100,000 VND notes very occasionally, you will see it distributes fives and twos.
Your PIN should not be so easy that someone else could figure it out and use the card. It's probably a mistake to choose 1234, your birthday, your address, etc. Memorize your PIN. Don't write it on your Debit card or anywhere in your wallet. Do not tell your PIN to anyone.
When entering your PIN, be aware of any people that may be standing around you attempting to look over your shoulder.
Always remember to take your card back from the machine. Do this as soon as it pops out, if it remains in the slot, the machine will suck it back up to prevent it from being stolen. If the ATM you are using isn't Standard Chartered, it's unlikely that the other bank will return the card to you - you will have to notify Standard Chartered to issue a new one.
After 3 consecutive wrong entries of the PIN (or 6 wrong entries) the ATM automatically rejects the card. You would be able to try the card once more the next day if you remember the right pin. In case the card is deactivated because of wrong entries you need to contact the customer service center and ask for a new pin generation.
Present your Debit card after making your purchase. Your card will be swipe by the merchant for authorization. After a successful authorization, a hold for the transacted amount will first be placed on your account. Your account will be subsequently debited for the transacted amount.
Check and sign the sales slip which is generated. Your signature must match that on the reverse of the Debit card.
When using the Debit card at a merchant establishment, the purchase amount will always be debited to the designated Primary account of the Debit card.
Maximum balances seen both at ATM screen or any receipt would be restricted to 999,999,999 VND/FCY. By default balances above, the amount would not be shown. Please contact our branch or call centre in event you require information on balances for amounts greater than as stated above.
